Diplomas in International Petroleum Management

Aim of the Diploma Programme

The MDT Diploma Programme provides a comprehensive training programme for those intending to pursue a career in Commercial, Accounting and/or Management in the International Petroleum Industry.  The programme provides for both those with and those without prior study or experience and so is suitable as a conversion course for candidates from other disciplines.

On successful completion of the programme, candidates are awarded the appropriate Diploma in International Petroleum Management in recognition of their breadth and depth of knowledge and sustained high level of attainment in their chosen discipline.

There are no final examinations or other forms of assessment outwith the training modules, except that a candidate who is unable to satisfactory complete the requirements during the training module may be required to do so within a specified time thereafter.

Progression

Candidates may register for training courses, subject to availability, at any location and in any sequence, subject to pre-requisites specific for individual modules.  The Administration Department will advise candidates of the recommended sequence of certain modules if appropriate.

Training Centres

MDT International currently offers selected training modules in the following five centres:  Aberdeen, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, London & Perth (W.A.).  Training modules required to complete the Diploma programme will be scheduled to run at each training location according to demand.

In-house training modules

The subject requirements of the Diploma Programmes are specified in terms of ‘public’ training modules offered by MDT International.

MDT International also provides in-house training courses for clients.  Candidates who complete in-house training modules provided by MDT International which are comparable both in content, standard and duration to those specified for the Diploma may count those courses as meeting part of the Diploma requirement, subject to confirmation by MDT International.

Credits and exemptions

Candidates who have successfully completed relevant MDT International training modules within a period of up to three years prior to registering for the Diploma may be awarded the appropriate credits for those courses, subject to proof of successful completion and at the sole discretion of MDT International.

No credits will be awarded, or exemptions granted, for courses offered by any training provider other than MDT International.

Candidates who have successfully completed subjects comparable to those specified for the Diploma may, at the sole discretion of MDT International, be permitted to substitute other relevant modules offered by MDT International, subject to a maximum of six credits.
